Obasanjo Congratulates Buhari, Tells Him To Be Great-hearted in Victory


Former President Olusegun Obasanjo congratulates Gen Buhari on his victory as the newly intending president. In a message released yesterday evening, Chief Obasanjo asked the President-in-waiting to be great-hearted in victory and seriously fight corruption when he assumes office.
"With so much harm already done to many national institutions including the military, which proudly nurtured you and me, you will have a lot to do on institution reform – education, healthcare, economy, security, infrastructure, power, youth employment, agri-business, oil and gas, external affairs, cohesiveness of our nation and ridding our land of corruption. 

INEC: Prof. Jega Officially Declares Buhari Winner of The 2015 Presidential Election


After a long awaited response from the INEC chairman, He finally declares the winner of the just concluded elections in the early hours into the month of April (1st April, 2015). So i wish you all (Duisaf's Blog Readers),,, A Happy New Month!!!

Come May 29, 2015, Nigeria will be having a new president in the person of "Gen. Mohammed Buhari".

INEC chairman Prof. Jega just declared him winner of the 2015 presidential election having certified the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes in the election. Congrats Nigeria for a peaceful; free and fair enough 2015 election. God bless President Jonathan for his concession. God bless our country Nigeria!

‘I Have Kept My Word…': Jonathan Thanks Nigerians In Emotional Press Release


Below is President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ)'s official statement over the presidential elections result, do read for your perusal:

Fellow Nigerians,

I thank you all for turning out en-masse for the March 28 General Elections. I promised the country free and fair elections. I have kept my word. I have also expanded the space for Nigerians to participate in the democratic process. That is one legacy I will like to see endure.

Although some people have expressed mixed feelings about the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), I urge those who may feel aggrieved to follow due process based on our constitution and our electoral laws, in seeking restitution.

POLLS CELEBRATION GONE WRONG: Lamido’s Aide Kills One, Injures 4 with His Car


Special Adviser on Religious Affairs to Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Alhaji Isah Ahmed Duniya Bahutu, Monday, knocked down and killed an ex-soldier (names withheld) and injured four others in Birnin-Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The accident occurred when the special adviser was returning from Kiyako, his village, a few kilometres away from the headquarters of Birnin-Kudu Local Government.

Vanguard has the information that the governor’s aide ran over a group of youths, who were celebrating All Progressives Congress, APC’s senatorial victory, having barricaded the main road.

Edo Declares Public Holiday to Celebrate Buhari’s Victory


Edo State Government today has declared a work-free day in the state on Wednesday, 1st of April to celebrate the historic victory of General Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the just concluded election.

Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, in person of "Peter Okhira"  invited people of the state to a victory party which will hold at the Oba Ovoranmwen Square, Benin City starting from 3:00 in the afternoon. Top artistes, including Davido, Patoranking, among others are scheduled to perform at the victory party.

Buhari Thanks Supporters, Preaches Against Wild Celebrations


Ahead of his formal declaration as President elect, APC Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari took to the stage at the APC headquarters to expressed gratitude to Nigerians for choosing him and his party over and above the PDP and their candidate, the incumbent President, Dr Jonathan Goodluck.

The APC declared victory party after Dr Jonathan called General Buhari at 5:15pm to make a concession and congratulate the winner.

President Jonathan Calls To Congratulate Buhari


INEC has gone on another break and the commission will reconvene around 8pm to give the result of Borno State. Meanwhile TVC just reported that President Jonathan has called Muhammadu Buhari to congratulate him on ‘his' victory. Chude Jideonwo who also works for Buhari has also confirmed it.
We however await the final result by INEC. It's past 8pm and we really can't wait!

There is this massive excitement all over the country in regards the victory of the election, APC headquaters is not an exception as jubilation becomes the order of the day.

After three previous failed shots at the presidency, Muhammadu Buhari is finally moving into Aso Rock, Nigeria’s presidential palace, as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He had polled a total of 15,416,221 votes to defeat the incumbent and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan, who got 12,853,162 votes. Nigerians are super excited! There was a drama today at the collation centre when a PDP agent "Godsday Orubeb" by name tried to distrupt the progress of the INEC result announcement BY causing a scene.

Agent Godsday Orubebe is the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, which makes his act at the collaction centre a very shamful one. Video Exposes INEC Officials Colluding With PDP To Rig Elections


An information geeting to us concerning the present going election showing some INEC officials colluding with the PDP in a rigging  process.

This video was actually brought to light bu Premium Times and has being going viral online. It was reported that PDP supporters had earlier fired shots to scare people away before they started to thumb-print ballot papers made available to them by INEC officials. This happened in Polling Units 009, 010 and 011 at Oniong West Ward 1, Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and it was carried out right in the presence of the villagers. Buhari Group Calls for Fani-Kayode’s Arrest


The Buhari Support Organisations has called for the arrest of Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, the Director, Media, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, for announcing unofficial/unauthentic results.

The Director, Media and Information of the BSO, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, made the call on Monday in Abuja at a news conference. According to Maduekwe, this is the time for security agencies to show their neutrality by arresting Fani-Kayode because the only authority to announce election results is the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Teenage Girl Stabs Boyfriend to Death for Attempted Rape in Lagos


The police in Lagos have arrested an 18-year-old lady, Kafayat Olawale, for allegedly stabbing to death her 32 year old boyfriend, Ojo Ijabike.

The incident happened on Friday on Olutola Adebayo Street, off Idimu Road, in the Alimosho area of Lagos State. Investigations by PUNCH Metro revealed that Ijabike, an indigene of Owo, Ondo State, had attempted to forcefully have carnal knowledge of the suspect when there was a scuffle between them. Olawale, who hails from Osun State, was said to have stabbed the deceased in the heart region, while the 32-year-old victim inflicted injuries on her.

Prophet T.B. Joshua, has revealed some things that will happen soon after the elections in Nigeria.
Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, March 29, 2015, the prophet said, he is seeing the death of a prominent politician due to ‘heated up’ politics in the wake of the closely fought Nigerian elections.

NBC Releases List of Media Stations that Breached Broadcasting Code


The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on Monday released the list of broadcasting stations who has failed to comply with the provisions of the Nigeria Broadcasting code from the beginning of electioneering campaign to date.

A statement signed by the commission’s Director/Head, Public Affairs, Alhaji Awwalu Salihu, in Abuja, said the disputes included breaches of the rules on the broadcast of sponsored campaign materials. Other breaches were the airing of campaign materials or programmes that promoted political parties or candidates within the 24-hour prohibited period, as well as unauthorised networking by some stations within the country. Insane!! Jilted Boyfriend Kidnaps Ex Inside Suitcase, Attempts To Flee The Country With Her


A man has been jailed for kidnapping his fiance in a suitcase with the intention of escaping with her outside the country, he was said to have tried wheeling her through an airport after she attempted to put an end to their relationship.

Jilted Wang Li, 29, had been dumped by his girlfriend Mu He, 27, after a bust up at their apartment in the north-eastern Chinese province of Liaoning. He then travelled nearly 2,000 miles to her hometown of Xi'an where he subdued her, tied her up and bundled her into a wheelie suitcase.

Aggressive APC members feeling so sorrowful for in the sight infrigement in regards the announced votes result in Enugu. They all took to the street this everning to protest the outcome of the presidential election in the state. PDP won with 553,003 votes while the APC won 14, 157 votes.

ELECTION UPDATE: David Mark Wins Senate Ticket For 5th Term


Senate President David Mark has again grabbed the Senate ticket for the Benue South Senatorial District in the National Assembly. This will be David Mark’s 5th term in the house.

Meanwhile, Governor Aliyu Wammakko of Sokoto State(APC); his Plateau State counterpart, Jonah Jang(PDP); Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji(PDP); and Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State(APC), have won their Senatorial election to represent their respective zones in their states.

Presidential Election Results: Taking Count... 9 States Down, PDP in Early Lead


The result of 8 states has been announced by INEC together with that of the FCT, Abuja. In the 9 states announced so far PDP tend to take the lead with 2,332,734 votes while APC has 2,302,978 votes, though APC won five states and PDP four states.

Other states are to be awaited. So, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to meet again for the rest of the result by 8pm tonight in order to allow sufficient time for other states to bring in their results. The states with awaiting results are 27 in number

GRAPHIC PHOTOS: Man Shot Dead as Violence Breaks Out at INEC Office in Bauchi


The man in the photo above was allegedly shot dead by a soldier this morning at Bauchi's INEC Office after the military tried to gain access into the office. Residents of the state had blocked the military from entering the office as results were being collated and this resulted into violence.

The residents waited all day outside the INEC office to await the announcement of last Saturday's election when the military showed up. Another man was hit by a stray bullet. See photos to this after the cut...

PHOTOS: People of Bauchi State Defy Gov Yuguda's Curfew, Storm INEC Office to Protect their Votes


According to reports from Bauchi state, some crowd have right now stormed the state's INEC headquarters despite a 24 hour curfew imposed by the state government.

Governor Isa Yuguda had warned residents to stay indoors, declaring that any body found wanting must face the wrath of the law. The government said that the measure was to prevent an escalation of attacks after Nigerian troops engaged gunmen in fierce fighting in  Dungulbe village, 7kms from Bauchi State Capital.

Four-year-old Boy and Sister Burnt to Death in Lagos Fire


Disaster rocks Lekki as a four-year-old boy, identified as Paul, and his sister, 1 year old , have been burnt to death after fire gutted a bungalow in the Igbo-Efon, Lekki area of Lagos State.

The incident happened around 5am on Saturday. PUNCH Metro was fed that the fire began from a cooking stove which exploded in the bungalow where the victims lived with their parents. The inferno was said to have quickly spread and torched the room where the children were.

The mother of the children fled the area and called for help, but the children could not be saved as the strenght of the fire rapidly over powered them..

''This Presidential, National Assembly Elections is Most Cruel Ever'' - Soyinka


Nobel Laureate and play wright, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has described the presidential and National Assembly elections as the most cruel, unprincipled and violent he had ever witnessed. In an interview with the GuardianUK in Lagos on Sunday, the 80-year-old former political prisoner railed against what is thought to have been the most expensive election in African history:

“We’re talking about a very positive response by the public in terms of determination to register and vote but, you know, this has been one of the most vicious, unprincipled, vulgar and violent election exercises I have ever witnessed. I just hope we won’t go down as being the incorrigible giant of Africa.”

Police Recover N9m from Dead Armed Robbers who Raided Owo Banks


As record has it, the robbery that took place at Ondo state claimed lives and alot of money too but with the info we gathered, the police in the state who has recovered N9 million already from 6 of the armed robbers who died in the process of several gunshot battle.

Two police women and four others, including an ASP and seven civilians were killed by the robbers who stormed the banks at about 4pm last Friday. Also shot dead by the robbers were a bank manager and his deputy who reportedly refused to cooperate with them on arrival at the bank.
