No Work, Schools Shutdown In Ekiti, As Fayose Calls On Okada Riders, Drivers To Help Defend His Mandate


Pupils in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital, were sent back home Monday morning and civil servants stayed away from the State Secretariat for fear of being caught in a potential outbreak of violence following the call by Governor Ayodele Fayose to Okada riders and drivers to rise up and help him protect his mandate.

Nineteen lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress have initiated impeachment proceedings against him and have requested the state chief judge to raise a panel to probe the governor.

XENOPHOBIA: Human Rights Group Barricade MTN Office in Edo, Threaten to Shut Down South African Businesses in Nigeria


Human Rights group under the aegis of "The Flagship" today barricaded the MTN office in Benin city, Edo state during a protest over the current Xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Likewise the anti-Xenophobia protest outside South Africa High Commission in Abuja today.

A number of groups held peaceful demonstrations outside the South African High Commission in Abuja today to protest the xenophobic attacks against foreigners living in SA, including Nigerians. After comments by a number of protest leaders, the group handed over a communique to a representative of the high commission and left peacefully. See photo below this report.

And to that of the Human Right group at Edo... The group called on the South African government to immediately resolve the issues or they will shut down South African businesses here in Nigeria.

Robbers Invade Pres. Jonathan’s Aide’ Home... Cart Away With Undisclosed Amount Of Money


Unidentified gunmen on Saturday forcefully gained entrance the home of the Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Domestic Matters, Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa, and carted away an undisclosed amount of money after destroying the safe kept in one of his rooms.

It was learnt that the gunmen, about 10 in number, were dressed in police uniform. They were said to have robbed his residence in Okaka Estate, Yenagoa, around 8pm. It was learnt that when the robbers came, the three policemen guarding the residence of the Presidential aide were indisposed.

Nigerians Living in Durban South Africa Vows to Fight Back


A group of Nigerians living in Mahatma Gandhi Road in Durban have vowed to defend themselves if attacked by the locals.

Solomon Okoro, (a 31year old man) according to iol.co.za, said they have been receiving threatening messages but were alert and prepared for any trouble if police are not willing to protect them. He said they would have guns, knives and bottles ready. Okoro said they have no choice but to defend themselves if under attack.

“It is not like we do not know how to fight. It would not be a good thing because this is not our country, we are not here to fight. Also local people are our friends, we eat and drink together. Those fighting are racist – they cannot live side by side with other Africans. We (did) a lot for this country during apartheid. But now that everything is hunky dory we are being attacked… This is a slap of hypocrisy,” he said.

Aso Rock Describes N2trillion Election Funds Story as “Mischievous, False and Wrongheaded”


The presidency has exposed today's front-page story on the Sunday Punch that said Pres. Jonathan spent a whopping N2 trillion on the 2015 General elections, and that a committee of five has been set up by President Jonathan to conduct an audit of how the funds were payed out by party members and state officials.

In an interview with state house correspondents, the president’s spokesman, Reuben Abati, described the report as “mischievous, false and embarrassing. It was just to paint Mr president and his party bad to the people; the handiwork our its opposition.. he said".

Ababti continued saying... “The President has not set up any committee as alleged in that story. It is also not true that the Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party used state funds, or spent N2 trillion during the campaigns. The innuendoes are wrong-headed; the motives behind the story are suspicious.

A 10-year-old girl, Chidinma, has been admitted at an undisclosed hospital after a couple – Eucheria Chukwuma and Jerry Oko-Oboh – allegedly beat her up and stabbed her in the private parts with a broken bottle.

It was learnt that the couple and the victim’s family lived on Joshua Street, Agbabiaka, in the Ajangbadi area of Lagos. And that the couple assaulted the minor for allegedly fiddling with the vagina of their three-year-old daughter, Peace.

Orubebe Denies Involvement in Plot to Kidnap Jega - "So Shocking To Hear.. He Says''


The former minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, has denied being a part in the alleged plot to kidnap the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega at the presidential results collation centre in Abuja.

Reports had claimed that Orubebe’s protest against the abandonment of his petition against underage voting in the North among other complaints against Prof Attahiru Jega was a deliberate action by him to cause confusion at the presidential result collation centre to pave way for Jega’s abduction and trigger national violence.


Grant Presidential Pardon To Ibori, Ijaw Group Urges Jonathan


An Ijaw group, the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, in Delta State, last weekend, called on President Godluck Jonathan to grant presidential pardon to the former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, before his exit from Aso Villa, next month.

National President the group, Mr. Austin Ozobo, in interactive with newsmen, said:
“Chief Ibori has suffered enough and there is no justification for not granting him mercy, as had been done to others.”
