Lawyers Ask Court To Jail MultiChoice MD For Disobeying Court Order


Two Lagos-based legal practitioners, Oluyinka Oyeniji and Osasuyi Adebayo, have commenced contempt proceedings against the Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, Mr. John Ugbe, for allegedly violating a court order.

Ugbe, alongside the Public Relations Manager of the company, Caroline Oghuma, is liable to being jailed if found guilty of the accusation filled against them. The lawyers had, on April 2, 2015, secured a court order of lag injunction restraining MultiChoice from giving effect to its proposed 20 per cent increament on subscription fee to the Digital Satellite Television (DStv).

SHOCKING VIDEO: Bayelsa Governor Leads Thugs To Attack Court Sitting In Yenagoa


This is absolutely incredible and saddening. It will leave you in a state of tears for Bayelsa and Nigeria as a whole. Here’s how Premium Times reports it. Too sad.

The Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, on Monday led a gang of thugs to attack a Federal High court in Bayelsa, a video obtained by Premium Times has shown. The video shows the governor, dressed in traditional Ijaw blazers, as he steps into the court premises, accompanied by his police guards and tagalong, before hooligans, including rifle wielding police officers, invaded and attacked the court.

Buhari Escapes Electoral Disqualification As Court Adjourns Eligibility Suit To April 22


According to Premium Times, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has put an obstacle to the fast growing speculations that the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, might be barred from participating in Saturday’s presidential election exercise.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola, this morning adjourned the eligibility suit seeking to stop Gen. Buhari to a later date  (April 22 and 23) for the hearing of the case, meaning there is no more obstacle on the APC candidate’s path. The hearing will now come up about a month after the election.

Finally Chris Brown can put his 2009 attack on Rihanna behind him, at least legally. Cos yesterday, Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin ended his felony probation, more than six years after the R&B singer brutally attacked his then-girlfriend hours before the Grammy Awards..

Chris Brown was just 19 years old when he attacked Rihanna in a rented sports car after leaving a pre-Grammy Awards party. Brown fled the scene but turned himself in to police hours later and was subsequently charged with felony assault. 

AGN Crisis: Emeka Ike Gives Ibinabo 24 Hours to Vacate Seat


Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike has reacted to the removal of  Ibinabo Fiberesima, as president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

The actor, who has always been against Ibinabo’s enthronement as the guild leader, announces that he gives Ibinabo not more than 24 hours to apologise to the guild and vacate her seat or face being dragged to court again for contempt. Speaking on the threat of appeal made by the seating president Emeka puts forward that she has no case and points out what it entails to effect an appeal. He lashed out:  "See after the cut..."

Rap Top-Star Knight Collapses in Court after Judge Sets $25m Bail in Murder Case


Death Row Records co-founder Marion "Suge" Knight fainted in a Los Angeles courtroom today after hearing a judge set his bail at $25 million over a "murder" plus "hit-and-run case".

This marked the second medical emergency the 49-year-old former CEO has suffered during his legal proceedings in a little more than a month. Several deputies rushed to his aid after he collapsed in his seat after which  he was later taken to a hospital for sure check-up.

Court Orders that Alleged Nyanya Bombers Be Tried on Camera


A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that the alleged mastermind of the April 14 Nyanya bomb blast, Aminu Ogwuche and five orders be tried and covered live on camera.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed, who gave the order, also allowed the prosecution to use assumed names for the defense witnesses. ChannelsTV reports that at the resumed trial of Aminu Oguwche and five others accused of carrying out the April 14 Nyanya bomb blast which claimed over 76 lives, the Prosecution applied to hold the trial on camera to protect the witnesses in the case and also allow the witnesses be masked to prevent a breach of their personal safety.

13 Nigerian Students Deported Sue Qatar Airways for N2.9billion


Some young Nigerian scholars have taken Qatar Airways Nigeria Limited before a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja and they are claiming about N2.9bn in damages.

The students, 13 in number, are blaming their deportation from the Republic of the Philippines sometime in November last year on the airline. PUNCH reports that the deported students who sued are Opoola Kayode, Ogundana Joshua, Oyeniran Eniola, Ajayi Morenikeji, Falope Opeyemi, Ayanwoye Samuel and Agunbiade Oluwamayowa.

Others deportees are: Toki John, Obajide Joshua, Bude Adeitan, Adedoyin Damilola, Banjo Olufemi and Akinola Olamilekan.
