Mob Beats Mentally ill Woman to Death for Burning the Quran in Afghanistan

A woman was rough handled and beaten to death by an angry mob in Kubul yesterday; thursday 19th March, as if that was not enough they went as far as setting her body on fire after which she was thrown o muddy river.

All these was her purnishment for burning pages of the islamic holy book near a Shah-e Doh Shamshira mosque, it was all covered on tape.


The woman was later identified as 27 year old Farkhunda. Her parents later told police that she suffered from mental illness for many years and that it wasn't intentional for her burning the religious holy book.

The head of Kabul's criminal police General Farid Afzali told AFP: "A woman burned a copy of the Quran in the Shahi Doshamshira neighbourhood. She was killed for her act. The woman's body was then thrown into the Kabul Rive"

A spokesman for the Ministry of Interior later confirmed that four suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the killing.
